Major Grade Level Objectives 

  • Math—Students will add and subtract with regrouping. Students will use the multiplication facts 0-12.

  • English/Writing—Students will write complete sentences.  Students will use the writing process to create poems, short stories, and reports. Students will use the basic parts of speech—nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs.

  • Reading—Students will identify topic, main idea, and details in a nonfiction passage. Students will write a summary. Students will identify the basic elements of fiction.

  • Social Studies—Students will use a map including the 4 main directions.  Students will learn about our state.

  • Science—Students will use the scientific method to conduct a simple experiment. Students will explore topics of life, earth, and physical science.

  • Religion—Students will identify the 4 marks of the Church. Students will define the seven sacraments.

Biography

Education:  2002 - Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University
1992 - Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Michigan University—English Language and Literature, Science, and Social Studies
1989  - Associate of Arts from St. Clair County Community College

Experience:  I have been teaching for 16 years at St. Mary Catholic Academy.  Prior to that I was a substitute teacher for grades Kindergarten through sixth.  I also worked in preschools and day care settings with children ages 3-5.
